Fashion brand Mango has appointed Helena Helmersson as an independent member of its board of directors, strengthening its corporate governance and aligning with international best practice.
The appointment was agreed by the board last week and forms part of Mango’s strategy to reinforce a more structured, expert-led management model.
Helmersson, a former chief executive of H&M Group, brings more than 20 years of experience in the fashion sector. She held several leadership roles at H&M, including oversight of sustainability, production and global operations. She was chief executive from 2020 to 2024.
She currently chairs the board of Circulose and sits on the boards of On Holding AG and Quizrr.
Toni Ruiz, Mango’s chairman and chief executive, said: “We are welcoming an exceptional professional whose vast international perspective and extensive experience in the fashion industry will undoubtedly propel us to new heights. Her expertise and visionary approach are invaluable assets that will enrich our leadership team and drive our global ambitions forward.”
Helmersson added: “I’m honoured and excited to join the board of directors and be part of Mango’s growth journey. Mango is pursuing a very ambitious plan, developing the brand and assortment, and bringing it to more customers around the world.
“At the same time, they are part of leading the sustainability practices in the industry. I’m impressed by what they have accomplished and feel very inspired to contribute to the future success.”
Following the appointment, the board consists of Ruiz as chairman and chief executive; Jonathan Andic as vice chairman; and Daniel López and Margarita Salvans as executive directors.
There are six independent directors: Jordi Canals, professor and chairman of the Center for Corporate Governance at IESE Business School; Jorge Lucaya, founding partner of AZ Capital; Jordi Constans, director and former executive at several national and international companies; Marc Puig, chairman and chief executive of Puig; Manel Adell, former chief executive of Desigual and board member at various fashion firms; and Helmersson.
Eugenia Jover serves as the non-director secretary of the board.
The appointment supports Mango’s 2024–2026 4E Strategic Plan, which aims to strengthen the brand’s value proposition, drive innovation and sustainability, and boost sales through international expansion.
