On this episode of Talking Shop I am joined by Zipline CEO and co-founder Melissa Wong. We discuss how Melissa’s 10 years’ of frontline experience informed her approach to building a SaaS company, the recurring operational frustrations that most head offices still underestimate, and why she believes technology should be designed with the store associate as the primary user. We also explore current trends in store execution and how retailers can bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the shop floor.

Schuh has announced the opening of a 49,000 square foot distribution centre in Ireland.

The new facility at northwest business park, Dublin, has led to the creation of 25 additional job roles.

The Republic of Ireland distribution centre will serve Irish and European customers, further increasing schuh’s omnichannel capabilities, ensuring all customers have access to the best product and best-in class service.

The distribution centre will supply products to Schuh’s 10 Irish stores and fulfil all orders made through the Irish, German and EU websites.

The Ireland facility is the third distribution centre schuh has opened with two other fulfilment centres in Scotland.

Colin Temple, Schuh managing director, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new warehouse in the Republic of Ireland, which will support our growth plans, create new jobs, and provide best-in-class service to our Irish and European customers.”
