Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre to create five new retail units

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre has announced that work will begin on the creation of five new retail units.

Four ground floor units will be located at the north east of the centre’s East Mall entrance and will have new frontages that open onto the shopping centre red car park. There will also be space at the first floor level, suitable for a gym or similar business.

The work will involve opening up the side of the building, in what was previously the Toys R Us unit. It will also include the reconfiguring of a section of the car park in front of the mall to accommodate a wider footpath and new disabled parking spaces.

Lee Greenwood, centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to confirm that this important work will be starting in April and should be completed by July, with the minimum of inconvenience to our visitors. That means our first new tenants are expected to be open for business by September.

“This work will provide an opportunity to enhance both the appearance of the centre and its overall offering and with two of the units already assigned to new businesses, we are confident that the others will also be very quickly leased.”

He added: “The restructuring of these units, as well as the potential for the introduction of a facility like an on-site gym, will serve to attract potential new uses as we move forward.”
