Co-op has relaunched its Royal Square, St Ives, store following a six-week programme of works and improvements.

The store, which opens daily and supports 12 local jobs, is one of three of the retailer’s stores St Ives, with others located in The Stennack and Tregenna Place.

Designed to serve and support the community and tourists, Co-op’s near 2,000 sq ft Royal Square store includes an in-store bakery alongside meal ideas; everyday essentials; food-to-go; chilled beers and wines; ready meals; pizzas; Fairtrade product; and free-from, vegan and plant-based products.

The refurbishment programme saw that self-scanning tills were added for extra speed and convenience. A soft plastic recycle unit was also made available in store to enable the community to recycle crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers, and pet food pouches.

In addition, the St Ives site benefits from an enhanced back of shop storage and warehousing to improve product availability and operational resilience.

Liam Douglas, store manager at Co-op St Ives Royal Square, said: “We have had a great response. The whole team is delighted to have had the opportunity to invest in improving the store to serve and support residents and visitors to the area.

“Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer, conveniently. This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, Co-op’s member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”
