Mothercare has announced that all business in Russia, including the shipment of all its products has been suspended in the wake of the ongoing Ukraine crisis.

It comes as major retailers and businesses around the world have all joined in boycotting Russian business in a bid to put increased pressure on the country following its invasion of Ukraine last month.

In a newly released statement, Mothercare said a local partner has confirmed that it will be immediately pausing operations in some 120 stores as well as online.

Russia currently represents around 20-25% of Mothercare’s worldwide retail sales, and was previously expected to contribute around £0.5m per month to group profit.

Zara owner Inditex, TK Maxx and M&S are amongst several retailers to cut ties with Russia in the past week, while businesses like John Lewis and Asda have removed Russian products from their shelves.

Boohoo, H&M and Asos have similarly suspended all sales to the region, while Nike has temporarily shut all Russian stores.
