B&Q has announced it will launch its first standalone TradePoint store in Barking this March as part of a strategy to expand its trade-only offering.

The site marks a shift from the current model of trade counters located within existing warehouses.
The move follows growth in the division, with like-for-like sales increasing 6.9% in the first half of 2025. TradePoint currently accounts for 22.4% of total sales for the retailer, which is seeking to reach £1bn in annual trade revenue.

The Barking site will stock 5,500 products for immediate collection, including building, plumbing, and electrical materials. Customers will also have access to 25,000 additional lines for site delivery or store collection, alongside services such as timber cutting and paint mixing.

Operating hours will be extended to support trade schedules, opening from 6am Monday to Saturday. Fulfilment options include a new two-hour delivery service, 15-minute click and collect, and “load and go” car park collection.

The brand was established in 2011 and currently has 1.5 million active members. While open to all, the scheme offers tiered discounts of 5% or 10% for professionals who meet monthly spending thresholds of £250 or £1,000.

B&Q chief executive Graham Bell said: “Growing TradePoint is a strategic priority for B&Q and we’re proud to be launching this new standalone B&Q TradePoint store concept to help make life easier for tradespeople and to help them grow their businesses.

“Our ambition is to make TradePoint a £1bn business and as a key milestone in helping us to achieve that, we’re excited to be testing this new standalone store format and to welcome tradespeople to the first store in this format at Barking in March.”
