Nisa celebrate’s 1,000th store opening

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Nisa’s 1,000th store has opened its doors to shoppers in Haverstock, Camden.

The store offers a large range of fruit and vegetables, with multiple food-to-go and coffee options in its corner location. The new 1,800 sq. ft. store employs 12 members of staff and is open from 8:00am – 11:00pm Monday to Saturday and 10:00am – 10:30pm on Sundays.

Despite issues caused by Covid-19 within the industry, Nisa opened 624 stores last year and more than 300 stores in the first half of 2021, with upwards of 280 more expected to open before the end of the year.

LA Foods operate multiple Nisa Local stores across London with plans already in motion to launch others before the end of the year.

The Hussain family, owners of key account partner LA Food Group, currently operate 13 stores already with the latest location in Haverstock marking their 14th venture.

Tabrez Hussain said: “We’re thrilled to be adding a 14th store to our remit and to learn that the store is such a huge landmark for Nisa just adds to the excitement.”

Darren May, head of format and development at Nisa, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to reach this milestone which is testament to our market-leading proposition and the straightforward process of joining Nisa.”
