Superdrug launches its own mobile phone network

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Superdrug has launched a SIM-only mobile phone plan for its Health and Beautycard loyalty members.

The mobile network, powered by Three, costs £10 a month and includes unlimited calls and texts and 4GB of data. Any unused data will be rolled over for an extra month, Superdrug said in its announcement.

Members can also seek additional data by paying £2 for an additional 1GB, £3 for an additional  2GB and £5 for an additional 4GB.

Superdrug said its research had found customers seek simplicity and “no strings attached” arrangements when choosing a mobile phone plan.

Bhavik Davda, Superdrug head of Health & Beautycard says: “Offering the service without a contract, allowing people to leave at any point, will give customers the freedom and transparency they’re looking for, while the added extra of getting your first month’s payment back in points allows members to give the service a try at no risk.”

In addition to the added points, members who sign up can also receive double points on their shopping with normal Superdrug product lines.

Davda added: “Superdrug prides itself on offering its customers the best possible customer service and is proud to have been placed in UK Customer Satisfaction Index top 10. This same level of customer service will be offered to Superdrug Mobile customers.”
