Trump Twitter attack causes Amazon share slump

Shares in online retail giant Amazon have fallen 6% after Donald Trump attacked the firm over the pricing of its deliveries and its apparent reliance on the United States Postal Service.

In a tweet on 2 April 2018 Trump accused Amazon of not paying enough tax, making the postal system lose money and putting small retailers out of business.

Trump tweeted: “Only fools, or worse, are saying that our money losing Post Office makes money with Amazon. They lose a fortune, and this will be changed. Also, our fully tax paying retailers are closing stores all over the country…not a level playing field.”
