Harrods marketing departs for Christian Dior Couture

Gerard Duran takes up Europe-wide client marketing role after almost four years at the London retailer

Harrods head of marketing Gerard Duran has joined Christian Dior Couture as client marketing director for Europe. 

Duran spent almost four years leading marketing at Harrods, where he oversaw brand strategy, retail and trade marketing, image and communications, media planning, client engagement and events. 

He was responsible for developing the retailer’s first brand book and platform, as well as defining brand codes, guidelines and its client acquisition strategy.

His team also managed campaigns, activations and store partnerships with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, Cartier, Rolex, Fendi and Loewe.

Before joining Harrods in 2022, Duran worked at Bacardi for more than four years. His roles included head of prestige for Grey Goose Vodka, Patrón Tequila and St Germain in global travel retail, and global brand, marketing and communications senior manager for Bombay Sapphire. 

Earlier positions spanned agency and brand strategy roles at Ogilvy, McCann Worldgroup, J Walter Thompson and Shixing Consultants.

In a LikedIn post, Duran said: After 12 unforgettable years in London, and nearly 4 years at Harrods, I recently closed a chapter that shaped me both personally and professionally. Today, I’m thrilled to share that I have relocated to Paris to join Christian Dior Couture as client marketing director for Europe.

“I am truly honoured and excited to join the House of Dreams at such an inspiring moment for the maison, and I look forward to contributing to this incredible journey.”

He has relocated to Paris to take up the role.
