Mamas and Papas has announced the appointment of Sarah Ashby, Asda’s former finance executive, as its new chief financial officer.

The news comes as the retailer aims for a record year after reporting a successful Christmas trading period in 2023.

Ashby, who officially joined the retailer on 19 January, most recently served as Asda’s senior finance director of projects and M&A.

She first joined the supermarket chain in 2020 as a senior finance executive for its in-house clothing brand, George, before being promoted to senior finance director for clothing and general merchandise in 2022.

Ashby has also previously worked at Procter and Gamble, The Kraft Heinz Company, and McVitie’s owner Pladis.

In 2024, the nursery retailer plans to open 10 more concessions in Marks and Spencer and Next stores.

As part of its expansion plan, Mamas and Papas also plans to expand across Indonesia, Thailand and Spain, with the business set to open its first stores in Thailand and Indonesia in March, after launching in Australia last year.
