Frasers Group is considering cutting up to 200 jobs at its head offices in Shirebrook and London in a bid to streamline the business.

The company owned by Mike Ashley has begun a consultation period which has left 20% of its staff at these offices at risk of redundancy.

The move comes after a spate of acquisitions by the company which include a number of fashion brands from JD Sports and The Mall shopping centre in Luton.

It is thought that the layoffs are intended to make the business more streamlined and cut costs following the acquisitions.

A spokesperson for Frasers said: “Frasers Group has gone through significant change over the last year, having made a number of strategic acquisitions and accelerated progress against the elevation strategy.

“We are reviewing our team structures to identify efficiencies and streamline processes, and we have entered a consultation period with colleagues affected by these changes. The changes will ensure we have the right structure and talent to support continuing profitable growth for Frasers Group.”
