Biem.L.Fdlkk Garment, a Chinese golf clothing brand, has acquired French fashion label Cerruti 1881 and British menswear brand Kent and Curwen for a total of €95m (£83m), according to WWD coverage.
It is reported that the Chinese manufacturer paid the equivalent of £50m for the trademark rights of Cerruti 1881 and roughly £33m for Kent and Curwen.
The news comes as Trinity Group, another Chinese company that is controlled by Shandong Ruyi Group, sold both brands after going into liquidation in January.
Shandong Ruyi Group also owned Gieves and Hawkes before the shirtmaker was acquired by Frasers Group in November last year.
In November 2021, Gieves and Hawkes, along with Kent and Curwen and Cerutti, faced a winding-up order in a Hong Kong court after Trinity Group defaulted on a standard chartered loan.
Later that month, it is understood that Kent and Curwen’s UK head office and retail teams were let go after the brand ceased trading.
Cerruti 1881 and Kent and Curwen were contacted for a comment.
