Gymshark delays Regent Street flagship opening

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Gymshark has pushed back the opening of its flagship Regent Street store to 29 October, citing “mitigating circumstances”, having originally announced it would open on 1 October.

The flagship will host customers, schools/universities, press, athletes, and guest speakers, with the ability to hold anywhere from single digit to 30 people – with the ability to grow into a flexible retail space for events of 100.
Some of the key features include “the sweat room”, an interchangeable sweat studio operating from the store, which will offer a rotating programme of classes for the Gymshark community.
It also features “the pro bench”, a bar where its experts will be able to impart their fitness advice to the conditioning community, and a Joe and the Juice partnership offering hot drinks, sandwiches, protein shakes and exclusive products.
As part of the store, the retailer said it will offer around 30 classes per week (15 signature sweat classes, five interchangeable flexi classes), five community sessions, four open gym sessions and a Sunday Brunch event with a guest professional each week.

A Gymshark spokesperson said: “Due to mitigating circumstances, we are delaying the opening of our flagship store on Regent Street. The store will now open its doors on 29 October 2022. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused to our community.”
