Ikks Paris makes UK debut

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

French fashion and lifestyle brand, IKKS Paris, has marked its UK debut with the company’s first flagship in the country set to open on Carnaby Street this month.

The 2,610 square foot store spans two floors with a full collection of womenswear, menswear, and kidswear.

It comprises a lounge area and complimentary coffee for customers, as well as regular in-store brand activations including style sessions, talks and personalisation.

The store will hold UK exclusives, and it will include a showcase of its ‘Free the Sea’ collection, a sustainable range made using Seaqual yarn produced by the Seaqual initiative, which uses recycled plastic waste from the sea with proceeds going to The SeaCleaners NGO.

Additionally, natural materials are used throughout the store, and the opening is set against a backdrop of growth for the company over the past 35 years. Ikks also recently opened a virtual flagship in the first metaverse fashion week.

Samantha Bain-Mollison, retail director at Shaftesbury, said: “We are delighted that IKKS Paris will open their flagship store in Carnaby. The brand will sit perfectly within the existing retail portfolio of exciting fashion concepts on Carnaby Street that offer customers a point of difference and a premium shopping experience.”

Ludovic Manzon, IKKS Paris CEO, added: “Carnaby Street is a perfect location to launch our first standalone store in London, as it’s not only an iconic shopping destination, it’s also where we know our target customers are shopping.

“This will allow us to showcase our full brand collections and to create an exciting space for our customers to immerse themselves into IKKS Paris. We are pleased with the response to our recent new standalone store openings in China and Madrid. This gave us the confidence to expand to additional markets in which we were seeing existing demand for IKKS Paris.”

IKKS Paris was founded in 1987 by Gérard Le Goff and offers a full collection of womenswear, menswear, kidswear and accessories.
