Four ‘premium’ brands to open at Highcross

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Hammerson has announced that four new brands will open at its flagship destination, Highcross, in Leicester this autumn.

According to Highcross, it has “captured” existing and new audiences through events and initiatives since reopening in spring, in addition to its 100 shops and restaurants.

Highcross said the new Ted Baker store will introduce its new “magnolia” icon branding, which can be found across its latest collection of men’s and womenswear as well as the store’s interior design.

The shopping centre also said Watches of Switzerland Group is refitting its Goldsmiths store to become a “luxury” format store. It will focus on watch brands such as Rolex, OMEGA and Breitling, supported by an in-store “hospitality experience”.

Meanwhile, Thérapie Clinic, which operates across England, Ireland and Scotland, will open its 60th clinic at Highcross, and offer treatments such as laser hair removal and cosmetic injections.

Iain Mitchell, UK commercial director at Hammerson said: “Premium brands and those with an experiential element have been some of the best performing since we reopened earlier this year and these four deals typify this demand.

“Whilst Ted Baker and Rolex have a strong following internationally, Laser Clinics United Kingdom and Thérapie Clinic demonstrate how we are evolving our destinations. We are excited to bring these brands to Highcross.”
