Dixons Carphone is set to drop its name as the group rebrands to Currys, with all stores across the business changing their name in the process.

Across the United Kingdom and Ireland, Currys PC World, Carphone Warehouse and Team KnowHow will all become a single brand Currys by October 2021, the group confirmed.

In a statement, the group said: “Consumers have a deep affection for Currys, a trusted brand providing vital technology to customers to enrich their lives since 1884. Under one brand, Currys will continue to bring the best of stores and online together, making it easier for customers to choose, afford and enjoy amazing technology, however they want to shop.

“This important step reflects the progress in the group’s omnichannel transformation. As the market leader in the UK & Ireland, Nordics and Greece, the group is uniquely positioned to provide products and services to customers at scale in ways others cannot match.”

A subsequent announcement will be made when the company’s name change becomes effective with a revised stock ticker.

According to the group, this is expected to take place immediately following its AGM in September 2021. Until such an announcement is made, trading will continue under the existing ticker.
