Dixons Carphone has announced the appointment of Moira Thomas as director of sustainability and ESG at the group.

In the newly created role, Thomas will report to Assad Malic, group director of strategy and corporate affairs.

Thomas joins from John Lewis Partnership, where she held a number of corporate social responsibility positions over a period of 15 years.

She provides the role with a strong track record in managing large scale ESG programmes, bringing experience across a range of areas such as carbon, property, waste, packaging, recycling, and communities.

Malic said: “With her experience and expertise, Moira will play a critical role in elevating our ESG strategy across the group.”

Thomas will be tasked with building upon the group’s sustainability commitments, which includes a pledge to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.

She said that the firm is “balancing the need to meet unprecedented demand for vital technology, with doing right by the planet and communities”.

She added: “I’m looking forward to helping the business continue to put purpose at the heart of everything it does, galvanising its expertise, scale and reach to help everyone benefit from amazing technology.”
