Aldi is set to open one new store a week between now and the end of the year, expanding its UK presence with a wave of new sites and refurbishments.
The discounter, now the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, has already confirmed several openings over the next two months, including in Fulham Broadway in London and Deeside in Wales. It has now announced further stores planned for locations such as Pendle Drive in Litherland, Pacific Drive in Eastbourne, Brimington in Chesterfield, and Shoreditch in London.
Stores are also set to open in Meadowfield in Durham and Ashford in Kent. In addition, 35 existing stores across the UK will undergo refurbishments before the end of the year.
Aldi plans to invest around £650m in its store opening and refurbishment programme in 2025, with each new store expected to create about 40 jobs.
Managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, Jonathan Neale, said: “At Aldi, our goal is to make sure people across the UK have access to affordable, high-quality food, and opening new stores is key to making that happen.
“We’re now opening an average of one new store a week for the rest of 2025, showing just how ambitious our plans are to build a store network that will help us reach millions of new customers. But it’s not just about openings – it’s also about making sure we have the best-paid teams in place to run them.”
In June, the retailer launched a recruitment drive for 1,000 new store roles to support the expansion. Store assistants will be paid from £13.00 an hour nationally and from £14.33 within the M25 from September 2025.
