On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Deliveroo has reportedly expanded its Screwfix partnership to 15 locations since its launch, according to Retail Week.

The news comes after the exclusive tie-up between the two groups was announced in November 2023 as part of its Deliveroo Shopping feature, which allows users to shop from a range of non-food categories.

Eric French, chief operating officer of Deliver, told Retail Week that the firm sees “further potential” to expand its ranges in DIY, hardware and tools.

According to the new partnership, all Screwfix products are now available to order on the app from its stores in based in Bayswater, Beckenham, Borehamwood, Bromley, Charlton, Chessington, Colindale, Croydon Purley Way, Kensington, Lambeth, New Southgate, Orpington, Sutton Brixton and Tooting.

French said: “Our retail journey is only just beginning and we’re really excited about expanding our selection across key target categories such as flowers, DIY, gifting, health and beauty, petcare, baby, homeware and kitchenware. This is where same-day delivery makes all the difference and where there’s increasing customer demand.”
