In The Style founder steps down as CEO

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Adam Frisby, the founder of In The Style, has announced that he is stepping down from his role as CEO, 10 years after founding the company.

In a post on LinkedIn, Frisby said: “After 10 amazing years of In The Style… it’s time for me to say goodbye! (For now). Following months of reflection I have made the decision to step down as CEO.

“As you all know I absolutely love ITS, it’s my baby, I’ve put my heart and soul into it over the years and it is without doubt the proudest achievement of my life!”

He added: “The stress and pressure that comes with running a business is at times unimaginable, it’s been no secret that the last couple of years have taken a personal toll on me and the thing I’ve learnt above all else from this journey is to be more kind to yourself; prioritise your emotional well-being and be more present in the lives of people you love. After all, life is too short.

“It has turned such a corner this last year, it’s back to profitability and doing so well – it has such a bright future and this has solidified my decision.”

Despite stepping down as CEO, Frisby added that he “wants to be clear that I’ll always be the founder of In The Style”, and will remain a shareholder and “continue to support the business in many ways”.

He added that Ben Armstrong has been appointed as the new MD for the group.
