DIY retailer Homebase has reopened all of its UK stores amid the Covid-19 crisis.

Despite being classed as an essential retailer, last month the retailer temporarily closed its stores and started operating online with Homebase saying the safety of its customers and team was its “first priority.”

In a statement released by CEO Damian McGloughlin, the retailer said it has taken time to “carefully review” and make a “large number of changes” to its operations in preparation for a safe, phased reopening, in line with government guidance on social distancing.

The news comes after the DIY retailer reopened 20 of its stores across the UK last week .

McGloughin said: “It has taken a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment from our teams across all parts of the business, to ensure we are ready to safely welcome customers back through our doors.

“I’m extremely grateful for the dedication shown by every single team member, and to our customers, for the huge support and understanding.”
