Man charged after digger smashes through Spar shop front

A Scottish man has been charged after a digger was driven through the shop front of a Spar convenience store in the town of Keith, in Moray.
The incident took place at 03:35 last Saturday morning (19 January), throwing debris across the town’s Regent Street. Police said “significant damage” had been caused by the digger, leading to the closure of the main A96 road.

A 35-year-old man has been charged relating to the incident and is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court.
A 35 year old man has been arrested after an incident where a digger was given into the front of the Spar shop in Keith around 0335 this morning. Regent St is currently closed due to debris on the carriageway, diversions are via Newmill to the north & Drummuir to the south. 1/2

The incident followed a similar event at a Liverpool Travelodge which saw a builder drive his digger through a glass front and into the hotel lobby, over what is thought to be a pay dispute. The builder responsible received an outpour of support after a Go Fund Me page was set up to raise money for him, the figure currently stands at £6,249.
