Danish lifestyle retailer Søstrene Grene is to open its first Islington store at Angel Central, taking a 5,588 sq ft unit on the centre’s upper level.

The new outlet will showcase the brand’s full range of kitchenware, small furniture, seasonal decorations, gifts and craft supplies. It will feature Søstrene Grene’s signature “labyrinth-style layout”, accompanied by classical music and wooden interiors that reflect its Scandinavian aesthetic.

The store marks a first for Angel Central as the initial retailer to occupy a standalone first-floor space. It joins other lifestyle and gifting brands including Oliver Bonas, Flying Tiger and MUJI, alongside fashion names UNIQLO and H&M, and food operators such as Wagamama and Bababoom.

Group chief executive and co-owner Mikkel Grene said: “Angel Central is a destination that reflects our values of joy, ‘hygge’ and creativity. This is a great opportunity for us to bring our affordable range of Scandinavian home décor, small furniture and crafting items to the Islington community by offering a welcoming space where customers can discover beauty in the everyday.”

Simon Prince, asset manager at CBRE Investment Management, added: “Søstrene Grene will be a strong addition to Angel Central, fitting seamlessly into our retail lineup. Its dedicated position on the first floor will create even more opportunities for customers to dwell and shop, enhancing the visitor experience throughout the centre alongside a great F&B offer.”
