Space NK founder joins Philip Kingsley as non-exec director

In this episode we speak to Matt Dalton, consumer sector leader at Forvis Mazars. Matt discussed the biggest challenges facing the retail sector, from cost pressures and wage increases to polarised property markets and geopolitical shocks, and the ways in which retailers can best navigate these. We also explore how short-term cost-cutting could undermine long-term resilience, and how retailers can best remain agile and adaptable in unforecastable times.

Global hair care brand Philip Kingsley has announced the appointment of Space NK founder, Nicky Kinnaird MBE, to the board as non-executive director effective immediately.

Kinnaird, who opened her first beauty retail store in 1993, is a well known entrepreneur who has grown Space NK to over 80 locations across the UK.

Having created a beauty giant in the retail space, Kinnaird will bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for the beauty industry in her non-executive director.

She currently runs her own brand consultancy, whose clients include leaders in the beauty, wellness, fitness and lifestyle sectors in the UK, Europe, the US, and the Middle East.

A British brand established over 60 years ago, Philip Kingsley uses trichology (the science of hair and scalp) in its New York and London clinics to offer treatments and supplements.

Anabel Kingsley, brand president and consultant trichologist at Philip Kingsley, said: “We are thrilled to have Nicky Kinnaird MBE on board with us at Philip Kingsley, her incredible career spans over 30 years in the beauty industry and therefore we are grateful to have such an amazing addition to the team.

“Nicky’s visionary leadership and industry knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to drive growth and innovation at Philip Kingsley. We look forward to the insights and strategic guidance she will bring to our team.”

Kinnaird added: “Philip Kingsley pioneered hair and scalp health. I am thrilled to join the boards of his clinics and product company as his daughter, consultant trichologist Anabel Kingsley, and her world-leading team of experts, build and expand the brand globally. I believe this is a pivotal time for clinical haircare.

“Consumer awareness is, rightly, building around the importance of scalp care for healthy hair maintenance and growth. Philip Kingsley is and always has been at the epicenter of that field. Its mix of heritage and science-led approach make it a dynamic and hugely exciting brand.”

As the founder of Space NK, Nicky Kinnaird also holds other non-executive director roles at skincare brand, Colorescience, and wellness supplements brand, Lumity.
