Bedroom furnishings retailer, Julian Charles, has signed a new five-year lease for the 1,800 sq ft unit at Norwich city centre destination, Castle Quarter.

The new arrival further diversifies the offer at Castle Quarter, which in recent years has pivoted towards social, leisure and lifestyle to enrich its traditional retail offering.

Founded in 1947, Julian Charles is a supplier of bedding, ready-made curtains, luxury cushions, throws and décor accessories, and operated from over 70 outlets across the UK.

Castle Quarter has recently seen record footfall, with visitor numbers for the year to date 10.7% higher than the same period in 2022. Turnover for the year to October 2023 was also 22.4% above the previous 12 months.

As the shopping centre has incorporated more leisure and social operators, longer opening hours have extended the trading day, while average dwell time has also increased.

Will Ashdown, asset manager at RivingtonHark, said: “Julian Charles is a fantastic addition to the line-up at Castle Quarter, further strengthening the offer and giving people even more reason to visit the destination.

“The recent record performance of the scheme highlights the success of our strategy of focusing entirely on providing the retailers, operators and options that people want in a city centre location such as Castle Quarter.”
