Just Hype appoints new CEO and COO

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Lifestyle and accessories brand Just Hype has announced the appointments of Mike Thompson as its new chief executive officer and Shireen Saloojee as the new chief operating officer.

The appointment to CEO comes in the form of a promotion, having previously held the COO title at the company.

His time at the retailer began earlier this year and coincided with a “pivotal” moment for the company. Thompson assisted the new investment team in rebuilding the business after it was purchased in a pre-pack administration deal.

As CEO, he will continue to steer Just Hype towards achieving its strategic goals and reinforcing its position as a key player in the industry.

Meanwhile, Saloojee, who is a seasoned executive with an impressive track record of driving operational excellence and fostering innovation, has been selected to take on the role of COO.

She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles with notable organisations such as Arcadia Group, Alshaya Group, Al Yasra Group, Namshi and Landmark Group. Saloojee will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving efficiency, and supporting the company’s continued growth initiatives.

Sarjan Dulai, owner of Just Hype, said: “Mike’s elevation to the position of CEO reflects his remarkable achievements in revitalising our business. With his invaluable contributions, we have successfully fortified our infrastructure and secured a robust order pipeline for the upcoming year.

“Moreover, with the addition of Shireen Saloojee as our COO, we are poised to enhance our operational prowess and reinforce our dedication to delivering exceptional products and services to our valued customers.”
