Asda has revealed that its like-for-like sales increased by 4.7% in the third quarter, making it the supermarket’s “strongest” quarterly performance since Q1 2021.

It is also reported that the brand’s total revenues excluding fuel reached £5.2bn.

The news of Asda’s positive third quarter performance has been attributed to the supermarket’s investment to drive value, as this quarter’s results are said to reaffirm the supermarket’s commitment to supporting families with the cost-of-living crisis.

In addition, Asda’s ‘Just Essentials’ values range is said to have attracted 400,000 new shoppers from other supermarkets, while it also invested in serving one million ‘Kids eat for £1’ meals before the end of this year.

Mohsin Issa, co-owner of Asda, said: “The financial pressures on families across the UK is worsening and they are looking to us for help. Asda has a long-standing reputation for providing customers with outstanding value and it’s more important than ever that we deliver on this for them.

“We’re absolutely committed to ensuring that Asda remains the best value traditional supermarket – while introducing new value initiatives such as Asda Rewards that can make an immediate difference to customer budgets.”
