Asda owner TDR Capital has reportedly snapped up eBays head of Europe to become a partner at the firm from this Autumn.

According to Retail Week, Rob Hatrell is set to take up the position at the Big Four grocer owner following three years of leading the online retail marketplace’s UK business.

Hatrell was also previously director of general merchandise at Tesco for three years until 2017, after joining the grocer as an IT director in 2009.

An eBay spokesman told Retail Week: “eBay can confirm that Rob Hattrell will leave eBay next month to pursue a new opportunity. Rob led the UK business for three years until 2020 when he took over responsibility for all European markets.”

The news comes a week after it was revealed that Asda’s chief customer officer Meg Farren was to leave the business to rejoin KFC as its new general manager.

Farren was responsible for leading the development and strategy of Asda’s total customer proposition, marketing and management of its brands.
