On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Amazon has reportedly announced it will continue to accept Visa credit cards in the UK in a bid to resolve a payment dispute between Amazon and Visa, according to Sky News.

Previously, Amazon announced it will no longer accept Visa credit cards as a payment method in the UK from 19 January due to the “high fees” Visa charges for processing credit card transactions.

The announcement comes just two days before the new rules were set to kick in for UK customers.

In an email to customers, Amazon said it was “working closely with Visa on a potential solution”.

It added: “Should we make any changes related to Visa credit cards, we will give you advance notice.”

Visa also told the outlet it will “work closely” with Amazon to reach an agreement and that customers can continue to use Visa cards on Amazon.co.uk after January 19, despite the previous announcement.
