Primark to extend Luton site

Primark to extend Luton site

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Primark is set to extend and refurbish its store at The Mall, Luton

As part of the build, the site will be extended by almost 40% and the entire space will be refurbished to reflect Primark’s “latest shop fit and design”.

The refurbishment, which will be completed this coming winter, will showcase 35,500 sq ft of retail space and aims to offer an “enhanced shopping experience”.

The building works will be phased to allow the store to remain open throughout construction.

Once the refurb is completed, customers will be able to shop more of Primark’s fashion including Primark’s growing range of products made using “sustainable, recycled, and organic materials, under its Primark Cares label”.

Roy Greening, general manager at The Mall Luton, stated: “We’re delighted to announce Primark will be extending their store size. The last 18 months has proved difficult for the shopping centre industry, and we’re thrilled to announce we’ve welcomed six new stores here to The Mall since non-essential reopened 12 April.”
