Jack Wills permanently closes another 17 stores

British fashion brand Jack Wills – which was rescued out of administration by Frasers Group plc in August 2019 – has announced the immediate closure of a further 17 stores, bringing the total number of store closures announced over the last week to 22.

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group acquired Jack Wills from administration in August of last year, after administrators KPMG accepted a £12.75m offer tabled by the sports retail group.

Last week Frasers Group also closed another nine Jack Will stores located in Abersock, Aldeburgh, St Andrews, Dartmouth, Harrogate, St Ives, Lincoln, Rushden Lakes and Southwold.

The new closures take the total of Jack Wills Stores closed since the acquisition to 33.

A spokesperson for the Frasers Group said: “The group has been working closely with landlords since acquiring Jack Wills to save as many stores – and livelihoods – as possible. Now faced by unprecedented uncertainty in the retail environment, these closures are inevitable, unless landlords are willing to come forward quickly and finally have meaningful discussions.”
