Ted Baker CFO departs for Mulberry after 17 years

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Mulberry, the British luxury brand, has announced the appointment of Charles Anderson to the Company’s board of directors as group finance director, with effect from early October 2019.

Anderson replaces Neil Ritchie who, as previously announced, stepped down from the board on 30 June 2019.

Anderson has over 20 years’ experience as a finance professional, the last 17 of which were at Ted Baker, initially as head of finance before taking the role of finance director of the group’s subsidiaries in 2014.

During his time at Ted Baker, in addition to developing and overseeing its global finance function, he played an “active role” in its international expansion and systems transformation and oversaw its investor relations programme. He also assumed the role of company secretary.

Prior to joining Ted Baker, Anderson also held various finance positions at House of Fraser , NatWest Markets and Carpetright.

Thierry Andretta, Mulberry’s CEO, said: “We are delighted to welcome Charles to the Mulberry team. His experience of developing and overseeing a global finance function during a period of international expansion will be relevant as we grow Mulberry worldwide.”
