Amazon partners with Next for click and collect service

Next and Amazon today announced Next’s participation in Amazon Counter – a new network of pick up points that allows customers to collect their Amazon orders in-store.

Pick up from a Counter location at the fashion retailer is available from hundreds of stores across the UK and on millions of items sold on Amazon’s UK website. The Counter works with one day and standard shipping and is available at no extra cost to Prime members.

Lord Wolfson, CEO of Next PLC, said: “The ability to collect Amazon parcels from hundreds of Next’s UK stores provides a helpful and exciting new service for UK consumers. Our own experience is that some customers find store collection more convenient than having to wait at home for a delivery.

“Amazon Counter combines the internet’s power to offer unprecedented choice with all the convenience of local stores. In a tough retail environment our aim is that Amazon Counter will contribute to the continued relevance and vibrancy of our stores.”

Some 90% of the UK population lives near a Next store and with this launch, customers are expected to have a “close and convenient” access to a pick up point.

Patrick Supanc, Amazon director of lockers and pickup, added: “Customers tell us they love having the option to pick up their Amazon orders from a nearby store. We’re excited to be working with Next and look forward to providing our customers with yet another convenient and connected shopping experience.”

Following successful trials, the Amazon Counter network goes live today (14 May 2019) and will be rolled out at hundreds of Next stores over the year.
