Pret A Manger has opened its first ever drive-thru shop in Warrington this week, as part of a trial to expand its presence in travel locations.

The site, located off the M6 at junction 21, is operated in partnership with Motor Fuel Group. The petrol station operator currently manages 35 of the 220 Pret shops located in UK airports, stations and motorway service areas.

The new outlet features a single vehicle lane with digital menu boards and indoor seating for 48 people. The site also provides electric vehicle charging points and customer toilets for long-distance travellers and local residents in the Northwest.

The shop serves the company’s standard range of breakfast and lunch items, including sandwiches, salads and snacks, while hot drinks are being offered in 12oz and 16oz sizes, using organic coffee and various milk alternatives.

During the opening day on 5 May, Pret issued several giveaways to customers, including food items and annual subscriptions to its membership scheme. The trial follows a wider strategy by the firm to move beyond traditional high street locations and into roadside service hubs.

Ross Warne, Pret A Manger president UK and Ireland, said: “Travel hubs and roadside locations present a huge growth opportunity for Pret, making the launch of our first drive-thru a natural next step in our expansion

“It’s all part of our strategy of meeting customers where they are, while still delivering the same friendly, speedy service and freshly made food we’re known for. Our teams have worked incredibly hard to deliver this new Pret experience, and we can’t wait to start welcoming customers soon.”

Jack Tindall, head of Food Service Operations’ at Motor Fuel Group, added: “As Pret’s largest UK franchise partner, opening Pret’s first ever drive-thru is a major milestone for our partnership. We know how much the people of Warrington love great coffee, and we’re thrilled to bring Pret’s freshly made food and Barista-made drinks to them.

“From freshly baked croissants to sandwiches, salads and organic coffee, this new shop offers everything customers love about Pret designed for modern, on the go journeys. We’re incredibly proud to be part launching this new format for Pret and look forward to serving the Warrington community.”
