Asda has announced a change in leadership at its homeware and clothing brand, George, after chief commercial officer and managing director Liz Evans stepped down.

Former Fatface CEO Evans, who joined Asda in January 2022, has remained a driving force in the business’s non-food and clothing retail operations, from initially leading George to overseeing retail leadership teams in 2025.

Following Evans’ exit, Asda is restructuring its leadership responsibilities, appointing a new chief executive for the George clothing line, whose identity will be announced separately. In the interim, the George clothing team will report to chief people officer James Goodman, and the George general management team will report to Darren Blackhurst, alongside their existing responsibilities.

Meanwhile, chief supply chain officer David Lepley will take on the expanded role of chief operating officer, adding retail operations to his existing supply chain responsibilities. Rachel Eyre, chief customer officer, will also become chief customer and digital officer, bringing all online and digital businesses together alongside her current role including George.com, Asda Money and Mobile.

Allan Leighton, Asda executive chairman, said of her exit: “Liz has been a fabulous steward during her time with us. Firstly, leading the George business through a period of continued growth and then taking on the leadership of our retail teams. Leading both, she has made a lasting impact – with our colleagues and the business more widely – and set in place the foundation for success moving forwards. I am immensely grateful for her leadership and wish her all the very best for the future.”
