Co-op has officially reopened three stores in Devon and Herefordshire before the weekend, following “extensive” programmes of improvements to the community stores.
Located in Fore Street, Topsham; Newland’s Park, Scarborough, and Ledbury Road, Tupsley, the stores vary in size – with Newland’s Park, at just over 3,200 sq ft, being the larger of the three. All three stores employ more than 40 local people.
The stores have benefited from new refrigeration with lower energy consumption, and an enhanced focus on fresh and healthy produce. This sits alongside a range and choice of food-to-go and meal deals; frozen food; dairy; bakery; Fairtrade products; pizzas; flowers; ready meals; wines and every day essentials.
It comes as part of Co-op’s plan to deliver around 80 makeovers across its portfolio during the year, which will also add extra services such as parcel collection, payment services via Paypoint; and cash machines.
Daniel Case, store manager of Topsham Co-op, said: “The whole team is delighted to invest in Topsham and relaunch Co-op’s Fore Street store. It is a proud day to relaunch the store, it looks incredible, and we have had a great response from the community.
“The store has been totally transformed with a fresh new-look and feel, and extended range of products – we pride ourselves on being able to deliver the quality, choice and value which can be enjoyed by everyone.”
He added: “We really look forward to welcoming our members and customers into their new-look Co-op. We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support our community.”
