Ebay has announced the launch of Carbon Academy to help small businesses to reduce their carbon footprint and accelerate their sustainability journey.

The new programme is created in partnership with sustainability consultant ClimatePartner and aims to give guidance on how to reduce the carbon footprint in day to day operations.

Carbon Academy will consist of seven modules such as carbon offsetting, the circular economy, climate strategies for businesses, carbon accounting and communicating climate action.

The news comes after Ebay launched its sustainable homewares hub, which encouraged users to to choose vintage, refurbished and pre-loved pieces in a bid to reduce the amount of furniture going to landfill.

Every business that graduates from the Carbon Academy will get access to Climate Partner’s assessment at a discounted rate.

The marketplace is hoping to reach its community of over 200,000 sellers and the programme is available through eBay’s online academy.
