Online retailer Asos has announced the appointment of Wei Gao as a non-executive director.

Gao was previously COO at Hopin and brings over 16 years of ecommerce and data experience. He held senior roles at Amazon, including roles as vice president for Grocery Tech, Product and Supply Chain, and as technical advisor to the CEO.

He will join the board on 1 February 2023 and will serve on the audit committee, as well as others.

Mai Fyfield has also been appointed as chair of the Remuneration Committee, effective 1 January 2023.

Jørgen Lindemann, chairman, said: “On behalf of the board, I want to welcome Wei to ASOS. Wei joins us with a depth of relevant industry knowledge across international ecommerce. The board will greatly benefit from Wei’s expertise, and we look forward to working closely with her.”
