Co-op is set to open its newest convenience store later this month in MediaCity, Salford.

The Co-op’s new 5,300 sq ft store is to be powered by 100% renewable electricity, and has created 20 local jobs.

The new MediaCity store brings the number of Co-op stores in Salford to seven – including its ‘store’ in Wethersfield which, as part of a landmark partnership with ITV, sees Co-op on the cobbles of Coronation Street.

Simon Williams, Co-op’s MediaCity store manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to serve MediaCity and welcome the community into their Co-op.

“Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, whether it is food-to-go, something for the evening meal, parcel collections or online delivery and click & collect we have been working to develop the range, choice, products and added services which will create a really compelling offer to serve MediaCity, conveniently.”
