Wickes has announced that it has appointed Mohamed El Fanichi as chief information technology officer (CITO), effective from September 1.
This newly created role follows the demerger of Wickes from Travis Perkins in April. El Fanichi will report directly to CEO David Wood and be a member of the Wickes Executive Committee.
Wickes said El Fanichi brings a background of international commercial and operations expertise in the retail sector, with a “strong track record” of leading major IT strategic and transformational projects that deliver business growth in the digital era.
El Fanichi joins from The Landmark Group UAE, where he has been CIO since March 2017. Prior to that he held a number of technology and business systems leadership roles for the Kingfisher Group where he worked from 2009 until 2017.
David Wood, CEO of Wickes, said: “Wickes has recently embarked on its journey as a standalone business and I’m delighted that Mohamed is joining us at this very exciting time.
