Inc Retail Group announces Tootsa MacGinty acquisition

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Inc Retail Group, a part of Inc and Co, has reportedly announced the acquisition of children’s clothing brand Tootsa MacGinty for an undisclosed sum.

According to Drapers, the newly formed Manchester group completed the takeover in a bid to bolster its core offering.

The group added that the deal “further defines its footprint in redefining retail through nurturing brands and providing them with a platform to grow”.

Headed by Dan Shaw, a former board director at Jones Bootmaker, Inc Retail Group has already made a string of acquisitions since its inception in 2020.

The firm now controls the accessories brand Knomo London, salad takeaway chain Chop’d, and dry cleaning and laundry app Laundrapp.

Shaw told Drapers: “Tootsa MacGinty’s strong commitment to sustainability perfectly fits with our dynamic and purpose-led acquisition strategy.

“Complementing and expanding our growing apparel and accessories portfolio, this acquisition offers us the potential to fully pursue our vision, and opens the doors to creating a group e-commerce dedicated team.”

Retail Sector has contacted Inc Retail Group for further comment.
