Wyevale to sell sale six more centres to Blue Diamond

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Wyevale Garden Centres (WGC) has announced the sale of six centres to Blue Diamond, following the sale of nine centres to the operator in July and August 2018.

Blue Diamond owns 36 centres, includes the sites at Blooms Worcester, Canterbury Chartham, Hereford, Lower Morden, Rake and Tunbridge Wells. All sites will continue to operate as garden centres.

Anthony Jones, COO, Wyevale Garden Centres, said: “Alan and the team’s decision to take on six more sites is testament to both the strength of our garden centres and the level of trust and confidence that has developed between the WGC and Blue Diamond teams through this sale process.

“I would like to say a big thank you to colleagues across these six centres for their passion, expertise and hard work and wish them the very best for the future under new ownership.”

The latest sale takes takes the number of centres sold off this year 67, as the company continues to reduce its retail portfolio, with 108 sold off since the sale process began.
