Retailer Parfetts Cash and Carry has acquired Middlesbrough-based food retail and distributor Blakemore Wholesale for an undisclosed sum.

Parfetts now has seven branches as the acquisition geographically expands the wholesale service, as well as the Go Local Retail Club formats which span from the Midlands to the north of England.

The purchase will be completed on 22 June and trading will start on 25 June.

Up to 33 jobs will be secured and transferred from all Blakemore Wholesale Middlesbrough to Parfetts after the purchase.

The joint managing director of Parfetts, Greg Suszczenia, said: “Retailers in Teesside will now join other Parfetts customers in benefiting from everyday low prices, a powerful three weekly promotional programme, strong availability and expansive range.

“Couple that with the industry leading Go Local retail fascia, we’re certain the trusted Parfett’s formula will prove to be a great success in this new branch.”
