Miniso to open new store at Glasgow Central Station

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Lifestyle brand Miniso will open a new Miniso-Go store at Glasgow Central Station on 26 September at midday.

The outlet, located in Scotland’s busiest railway station, will stock a range of licensed products including Hello Kitty, Disney and Sanrio items, along with Miniso’s own-brand lifestyle goods. The store will also carry snacks, collectibles and travel-focused products.

The opening follows a series of recent UK launches for the retailer in Luton, Romford, Liverpool and Norwich.

To mark the launch, customers who spend £5 or more in store will receive a goodie bag worth £25, subject to availability.

Saad Usman, chief operating officer at Miniso UK, said: “Opening at Glasgow Central Station is an exciting milestone for Miniso. The station is one of the city’s busiest hubs, making it the perfect place to introduce our brand to even more people.”

Hamish Kiernan, commercial director at Network Rail Property, added: “We’re pleased to welcome Miniso to Glasgow Central Station. Our pop-up strategy is all about delighting our passengers; giving them something unexpected.”
