Frasers Group appoints Jacky Wright as NED

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Frasers Group has announced the proposed appointment of Jacky Wright as non-executive director, subject to final board approval on 24 September 2025.

Wright is a technology executive with more than 30 years’ experience in digital transformation across both the private and public sectors. She most recently served as chief technology and platform officer at McKinsey, where she led the firm’s technology strategy and artificial intelligence transformation.

She previously spent more than a decade at Microsoft, including as chief digital officer, and has held leadership roles at BP, General Electric and HM Revenue and Customs. Wright has also served on several corporate and non-profit boards.

Last month, Frasers appointed Sir Jon Thompson as its new chair, succeeding David Daly, who will step down at the company’s annual general meeting after eight years on the board.

Thompson joined the retailer as a non-executive director in June 2024. A former chief executive of the Financial Reporting Council and HMRC, he brings extensive experience in corporate governance and major project management.

Thompson said: “I’m delighted to announce our proposed new appointment to the Board with Jacky. We welcome her wealth of experience in digital and AI transformation to further drive the Group’s long-term ambitions.

Michael Murray, CEO of Frasers Group, added: “Today’s announcement of the proposed appointment reinforces the Group’s commitment to this pivotal next phase of the Elevation Strategy. I look forward to welcoming Jacky to the Board, bringing with her deep expertise in digital transformation that will be instrumental as we further build and roll out our AI strategy.”
