Reiss opens new store at Metrocentre

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Reiss has announced the opening of its brand new store at Metrocentre shopping destination in Newcastle.

The 3,933 sq ft store in lower Red Mall will stock the brand’s premium collection of fashion and wardrobe pieces. The store is also home to the region’s only Reiss childrenswear collection.

In addition, Metrocentre has announced a raft of other new openings, upsizes and refits across its Red and Platinum Malls.

Sosandar has made its regional debut in the upper Platinum Mall, opening a 2,047 sq ft store. The brand brings its premium range of clothing, expanding the choice of womenswear across the scheme.

Kiko Milano has also opened its largest store in the North East at Metrocentre, taking 1,624 sq ft in Red Mall, alongside Brows and Nails, providing an array of professional beauty treatments.

Lastly, Moss has opened its brand new and refurbished store, following in the footsteps of River Island, which has also completed a revamp of its 25,500 sq ft space. Both stores sit close to Mango, which recently opened its largest store in the region, taking 6,233 sq ft.

Ben Cox, director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, asset managers of Metrocentre, said: “2024 has been a year full of tenant investment, with our accessible premium fashion and retail hubs continuing to move from strength to strength with major signings, upsizes, and comprehensive refits.

“Reiss has been a target brand for us for quite some time, and to have them open a store here really demonstrates the quality of our lineup. It is a reflection of our leasing strategy which nurtures existing retailers to support growth while attracting new names that continue to enhance the retail and visitor experience.”
