Mango names new external communications director

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Fashion retailer Mango has announced the appointment of Doris Cesares as its new director of external communications, institutional relations and public affairs, effective 2 September.

Cesares, who will be reporting directly to CEO Toni Ruiz, will join from Iberostar Group with more than 20 years of experience in building and managing the corporate reputation for national and international organisations.

Her recent project was the development of Iberostar Group’s communication and public affairs strategy at international level, including the design and communication plan for the strategic alliance with Intercontinental Hotels Group in 2022.

In her new role, she will be part of the company’s executive committee and will be responsible for developing and implementing the global strategy for corporate communications, institutional relations, public affairs and social action in Mango’s more than 115 markets.

Cesares will also contribute to the attainment of the objectives set out in the group’s Strategic Plan 2024-2026.

Ruiz said: “The incorporation of Doris to the Mango management team is a reflection of our commitment to strategic communication when it comes to elevating our value proposition, designed in Barcelona, sustainable, differential and high-quality.

“We are convinced that her incorporation will reinforce our 4E plan, contributing to business excellence and the positioning of the brand internationally.”
