Søstrene Grene to open new store at Festival Place

On this episode of Talking Shop I am joined by Zipline CEO and co-founder Melissa Wong. We discuss how Melissa’s 10 years’ of frontline experience informed her approach to building a SaaS company, the recurring operational frustrations that most head offices still underestimate, and why she believes technology should be designed with the store associate as the primary user. We also explore current trends in store execution and how retailers can bridge the gap between corporate strategy and the shop floor.

Danish homeware retailer Søstrene Grene is set to open a new location at retail destination Festival Place.

The lifestyle brand will make its Hampshire debut this year, bolstering Festival Place’s position as a regional hub for fast-growing brands.

The new location will deliver the family-owned brand’s range of Scandinavian-inspired homeware and gifts. Showcasing its emphasis on “aesthetics, quality and accessibility”, the concept will offer products ranging from furniture, soft furnishings, textiles, and kitchenware.

Art supplies, stationery, children’s toys and occasion-based accessories will also be on offer, with the selection of products updated weekly. The 14,546 sq ft unit will feature the brand’s pared-back store design, taking inspiration from its Nordic roots with a neutral wood backdrop to contrast with its brightly coloured array of products.

Poppy Radford, asset manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, said: “We are hugely proud to announce that Søstrene Grene has committed to a new store at Festival Place. The signing is also evidence of Sovereign Centros from CBRE’s strategy to curate a mix of tenants that directly responds to the needs of the Festival Place visitor, providing a high-quality, but still accessible shopping experience.

“We look forward to welcoming Søstrene Grene later this year, joining our evolving line-up of premium retailers.”

Norma Jacob and Richard Power, UK Joint Venture partners at Søstrene Grene, said: “As Søstrene Grene continues to expand across the UK, we are thrilled to announce that we will be making our Hampshire debut at Festival Place. As a brand, we have an ethos of ensuring both quality and affordability, so Festival Place was the perfect next home for us. We are so excited to open later this year and introduce our unique ‘hygge’ concept to a brand-new audience.”
