Sephora to open second UK store next month

On this episode of Talking Shop I’m joined by Alain Bejjani—former Group CEO of Middle East retail giant Majid Al Futtaim, and author of the definitive new book, NEXT: Leading Through the New Realities. Drawing on his childhood in war-torn Beirut, and his experience steering a $9.5bn dollar retail and lifestyle empire through a global pandemic, Alain brings an unmatched perspective on leadership under pressure. Today, we break down his crisis survival playbook for retailers operating in distress. We discuss why resilience must always outpace efficiency, the four assets a brand must protect at all costs, and how to turn macro-turmoil into a long-term direction that scales.

Following the success of its first opening in the UK, Sephora has now announced that its second UK site will open in Westfield Stratford on 15 November.

The store will offer 125 brands across makeup, skincare, haircare and fragrance categories. As well as its own brand collection, the shop will also offer a series of new and exclusive brands such as Adwoa Beauty, Relevant, STRAAND, Salt and Stone and Naked Sundays.

Commenting on the second store’s launch, Sarah Boyd, Sephora UK CEO, said: “We are so grateful for the welcome we have received from our fans in the UK. Their response to our White City opening blew us away and far exceeded our expectations.

“We are committed to giving the UK a unique Sephora experience, one tailored to the unique cultural needs of this wonderful country. We hope the community in Stratford love the store as much as those in West London and look forward to a day of treats and surprises at our opening.”

The cosmetics retailer relaunched in the UK in October 2022 when the Feelunique website, which was acquired by Sephora, became sephora.co.uk. Then in March 2023, Sephora opened its first UK shop in Westfield White City.

Sephora is currently present in 35 countries, with more than 2,600 bricks-and-mortar stores as well as online operations. The retailer carries around 78,000 products and employs 39,000 people worldwide.

At the time of the first opening Chris de Lapuente, chairman and chief executive of Sephora, said: “We are delighted to bring Sephora to the UK, responding to Britain’s strong demand for our unique prestige beauty experience.

“We will offer British consumers a pioneering selection of beauty that is best in class for innovation, diversity and inclusion. The UK is home to a dynamic beauty and wellbeing market that Sephora will aim to surprise and delight through our trademark know how and creativity. Our passionate team cannot wait to serve and inspire UK customers under the Sephora brand.”
